LAKE ALEXANDER LAKE IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

BOARD MEETING

SCANDIA VALLEY TOWN HALL

JUNE 22nd, 2009---6:00 P.M.

Board Members Present:  Mike Becker, Dr. Bill Faber, Rick Lindmeier, Rob Webb, Gordy Schenian

 

Mike Becker called meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

The April 14th, Board Meeting minutes were approved as printed.  The minutes were posted on the Board at the Scandia Valley Town Hall for property owners to review.

Treasurer’s Report:

   Rob Webb reported that the current balance if the LID is $30,557.  Expenses included $1,500.00 for bog removal (one large bog and several small ones), and a payment to Professional Lake Management of $15,000.00 for treatment of 33acres infested with curly leaf and a combination of Eurasian water milfoil and curly leaf.

 

Grants:

   Mike Becker has filled out a grant application for the amount of $8,500.00.  The grant recipient (s) have not yet been announced.

 

Exotic Plant Control:

   PML treated 33 acres infested with curly leaf and a combination of curly leaf and milfoil on May 15th.The areas of Eurasian water milfoil will be treated  on June 25th when the growth of the plant and  water reaches a temperature that is optimal for treatment.

 

Annual General Meeting:

    The date for the annual 2009 meeting was set for Saturday, July 11th, at 10:30 A.M.  This will follow the  Lake Alexander Property Owners Association Annual Meeting .  Mike Becker and Rick Lindmeier will be candidates for re-election   A proposed budget for2010will be presented for approval

   Ballots and notice of the Annual Meeting have been mailed to each property owner.

 

 Proposed Budget:

   The treatable acreage will remain the same: 112.5 acres of milfoil and 15 acres of curly leaf.  It was estimated that there would be a carry-over of $10,000.00 to $20,000.00 for next year’s budget.  It was also estimated that there would be a reduced assessment for the littoral property owners in 2010.

 

Requirements for 2010:

   Bids for exotic plant treatments must be sought for a three-year commitment in 2010.  This will be published with a legal notice in the area newspaper. Also permission slips for property owners whose lakeshore is within 150 feet of herbicide treatment must be sent,signed, and  returned..

A motion was made by Dr.Bill Faber, seconded by Gordy Schenian ,to adjourn the meeting  Meeting adjourned at 6:35 P.M.
